Like many, I’ve been on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster recently – mainly by acts of selfishness that seem to hit my T.V. screen and social media platforms. However, lately I’ve been uplifted by an increase in acts of kindness and I can’t help but wonder if Covid-19 is nature’s way of saying ‘wake up!’, because it feels like we are… and I love it!
We are creatures of connectedness, yet we have become increasingly disconnected as our communities and neighbourhoods have become more dense. We have an opportunity to turn the flow on its head right now. What I’m referring to is a simple phenomenon called ‘smiling’. Let’s give the movement a name ‘#smile19’ and let’s propagate it.
Here’s the game: with social distancing in mind, as you go about your day, simply take on these practises:
Smile at someone
Say ‘hi’, ‘good morning’, etc
Say ‘thank you’ when appropriate
That’s it! Take it, use it, alter it, make it your own and promote it. If more of us do this more often it will be positively infectious, and the world will be better for it.
Love & smiles, Mark
