And I’ll Keep on Working Clients ‘til The Networker Comes
OK, enough of that…
I’m just not a networker, I never will be, and I’m OK with that. I’m not into small-talk, superficial conversations, and am not overly fascinated with what people did on the weekend.
That’s what makes me valuable to my customers.
Why, because when I’m talking to you, I’m genuinely interested in ‘you’: who you are, what makes you tick, and what’s of interest to you. If you’re my client, I’m super interested in what you need, what’s going to provide you with the most value, and whether I can authentically deliver that value. If yes, I’ll let you know, I will provide, and I may even add a pleasant surprise on the way. If not, I will do you the honour of letting you know, offer any recommendations and assist where I can.
Now, isn’t that better than schmoozing and smooth talk?
So, my rule of thumb: don’t be a networker, just be genuinely interested in people. The road to customer growth may be longer, but it’s a road that leads to a better destination.
