The last time I was asked where I saw myself in 5 years, I replied ‘as an elected counsellor’. It was a genuine answer at an interview and the person asking had no response other than, ‘no one has ever responded like that before’. I wondered if they were expecting an equally mundane response? Why did she not delve further and use that to find out who I really was? It also gave me an insight into the company. If the interview was a dry experience what would it be like working there? As it turned out the best way to describe it was ‘beige’. I politely said I didn’t believe we were a fit and closed the interview - I mean someone had to.
What’s your favourite interview question (that you have asked or been asked)? What’s your least?
Here are some great questions as well the rationale for asking them.
